Children and other residents of Akhshtyr, a mountain village in Sochi, Russia, cross a wooden swinging footbridge over the Mzymta River. Russia has spent the equivalent of billions of dollars on venues and infrastructure to host the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games, including a combined high-speed railroad and road running a few hundred meters from the village and linking Sochi's Black Sea coast with the Caucasus Mountains. However, the government has not made needed investments in Akhshtyr's infrastructure, and Olympic construction destroyed the village's drinking water supply leaving them with no alternate source of water for months.
