Aida Ogonyan with her and a neighbor's children inside a damaged home on Ternovaya Street in Chereshnya village, Sochi, where construction of electrical lines as infrastructure for the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games caused landslides, resulting in severe damage to houses, including collapse of walls and cracks in foundations and walls. After a wall collapsed in her house, Ogonyan complained to the local authorities on numerous occasions beginning in March 2012. In response, the authorities threatened to place her children with social services because their home was deemed "uninhabitable." The authorities eventually ordered the construction company responsible for the electrical lines to install a metal trailer next to the damaged home for the family to live in.
