A zoo in Granby, Quebec, is finding fun ways to entertain its animals using old hoses from firefighters.
Fire hoses are very strong and last a long time. But when they get worn out, they have to be replaced.
Instead of putting those old hoses into the garbage, local fire stations have donated them to the Granby Zoo. The staff at the zoo are upcycling the hoses into toys and games for the animals.
It's a word we use when we take something no longer in use and find a new way to use it.
You may end up with something that is even better and more useful than the original product.

At the Granby Zoo, the fire hoses are upcycled into swinging ropes for baboons! The staff also made large hanging baskets from the hoses so elephants can stretch their trunk to try and grab food and treats.
Some parts of the hoses have even been turned into extra strong rolling balls for animal games.
